Brian and Peter decide to attend a movie together, Peter sneaks in liquor, and the two become extremely intoxicated, disrupting the entire audience. Peter's neighbor, Joe, is then called upon, who takes them both to court. The judge then sentences them to 30 days in Alcoholics Anonymous, much to their chagrin. Attending their first meeting, Peter is told that alcohol is a bad part of his life, with Brian becoming reluctant to give up drinking.
As the family gathers around the television to watch the local news, Lois admits her fondness of the new co-anchor, Joyce Kinney. Later that day, the family attends church, and while there, Lois learns of a local bakesale, and decides to bring her own baked goods. Going to the store to buy ingredients, Lois notices Kinney shopping there as well, and approaches her. The two quickly become close friends, and they decide to spend the day together at the news studio.
At the Drunken Clam, Peter, Quagmire and Joe drink beer and discuss various subjects. Peter is then introduced to the energy drink Red Bull which causes him to become addicted to the drink. Returning home, he begins acting extremely hyperactive, and soon becomes a nuisance to the family, including his wife, Lois, who gets rid of the drinks. Reluctant to give up the Red Bull, he decides to make his own beverage out of kerosene, which causes him to collapse.
After another power outage, the Griffin family reluctantly ready themselves for the story of Return of the Jedi. Rather than set up the plot, the opening Star Wars crawl expresses creator Seth MacFarlane's distaste for the studio insisting he conclude the trilogy. MacFarlane's text continues with the disclaimer that this third installment is not as funny as the previous episodes.
As the family writes their Christmas lists, Brian and Stewie decide to go to the local mall to see Santa Claus. The line is extremely long, and the two decide to cut in with Quagmire instead. Brian tries to be friendly to Quagmire, and inadvertently mistakes his terminally ill and balding niece named Abby for a boy, causing them to go to the back of the line once more.
The episode follows anthropomorphic dog Brian after he publishes a self-help book, and it becomes an immediate success. Once he hires Stewie as his publicist, Brian soon becomes overly-egotistical, and becomes angered when he continues to botch his schedule, resulting in an embarassing appearance on the HBO series Real Time with Bill Maher.
The episode follows housewife Lois after she is convinced to become a championship boxer. As she continues fighting, however, she eventually decides to go into retirement, only to be challenged by the top ranked fighter in all of Rhode Island. Deciding to accept the challenge, Lois faces the fight of her life, causing her to unleash pent-up anger.
